Integrative Psychotherapy

This is totally NOT your traditional “lay on the couch and let me talk your head off” therapy. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

A healing experience in therapy at Kindred Wellness, might begin with a few mindful breaths, a couple QiGong forms or even an enlivened moving meditation to get your energy flowing. We might invite you to sit on the floor on pillows and yoga mats, kick off our shoes and get comfy in an oversized chair. You might be sipping herbal tea, cool water or mindfully eating a bowl of grapes.

We hold the space for you to share your experiences, we support you in feeling your feelings, we offer insight and guide you in taking another look at your journey thus far to support paving a new way.

As integrative practitioners, we address the whole YOU: Mind, Body & Spirit. Known for our authenticity, we show you how to heal you.

Individual Therapy

(For Women, Girls, and Changemakers)

Healing is a labor of love and we applaud your BIG commitment to self! You may be struggling with your complicated mother-daughter relationship in adulthood, coping with a rude awakening about your career path, or questioning your life’s purpose or healing from an overwhelming life-changing event. We can support you in creating a new outlook. Many of the women we serve are trying to love themselves and make sense of their place in a world that feels toxic for Black and Brown people. We explore ways to handle overwhelming anxiety, sadness, and anger, stepping out of emotional darkness.

We serve women in leadership (non-profit, academia and corporate), entrepreneurs, mothers and change-makers. We specialize in infusing meditation (mindfulness/QiGong) and tangible tools into your transformation plan. We strike balance between addressing generational (ancestral) patterns and focusing on the present. We are honest and hold healing space.

About Therapy for Children and Adolescents

We are passionate about holding space for youth to express themselves, learn new skills and explore their identity. We serve children as young as 5 all the way to age 18. When supporting our youngest clients in healing, we utilize Play therapy techniques to create a safe space for expression.

Adolescence can be really bumpy for the youth experiencing this point in development and scary as “all-get-out” for parents! We enjoy our work with youth blossoming in their development and most teens end-up enjoying their time with me (at least that’s what they said).

We work with parents/caregivers to get the whole story of what the youth has experienced and listen to all that the youth has to say. We listen.

Now, don’t get us wrong, it gets messy (emotionally), as we are straight up, non-judgmental and compassionate all at the same time. We will tell your teen the truth about their choices and teach them new skills to navigate their journey. We meet youth where they are, taking the time for finding their interests so as to infuse those them into their healing session. Sometimes this means using music, art, movement, pop culture, and technology to support their process.

This work is a labor of love and as a result, we ask that parents be as committed to their personal healing as they are for their child.

Group Therapy for Sistas: “In This Together”

This is for Black women who are sick and tired of being sick and tired! You know you deserve better, and you want change, so you are ready to remove the mask. You have been struggling to shake the impact of some tough life experiences, want to honor your BlackGirlMagic, and are OVER the never-ending assault against Black people in America.

This is for the Sista willing to commit so she can gain some healing tools, speak her truth and grow in sistahood. We know, we know… group sounds scary… especially if you’ve been on a #NoNewFriends kick… but we promise you… with time in safe space, you will find yourself growing like never before. With accountability, insight and community… you will thank yourself (and your sistahood) for relief.

Sessions are weekly and occur in 6 week intervals. The series is $360 (sessions valued at $60 each) and last for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Sistas who participate commit to 6 weeks at a time.

Upcoming Group Therapy Dates

Time: 7:30pm- 8:45pm

All those who participate are required to complete an intake session with me to get acquainted, share your hopes for the group and to be sure this is the right fit for you! We will answer all your questions and help you release the angst. Intake sessions are $150.

What is the cost?

The series cost is $360 when paid in full (that’s $60 per session) or 2 payments of $195 (that’s $65 per session) and sistas are asked to stick to at least 6 weeks at a time.

May I use my insurance?

I am not on any insurance panels, instead I am an OON provider. This means you pay for your sessions up front and if your insurance has out of network coverage, I will provide a SuperBill so that you can request reimbursement. Many of my clients have received up to 85% back from their provider BUT…you must check with your insurance BEFORE the session to be sure.

I can’t afford $360 (at $60 per week), are there any other resources?

ABSOLUTELY. Kindred Wellness is a community rooted practice and has received gifts from community to make our healing spaces more accessible. We have support, based on need, for up to 3 women to “pay-what-you-can.” Inquire via email.

May I use my flex spending account?

Do I have to do an intake with you, first?

YES, Sis!!! This is a confidential, safe space that is new for everyone, so I want to get to know you and be sure this is a great fit!

How is this different from Kindred Wellness' #HealASista Circles?

Great Question! There are a few major differences…

  1. This is therapy. This means everyone in the space commits to confidentiality. What happens in the circle STAYS. There are no pictures taken, no hashtags. I become your therapist and We establish a private, confidential therapeutic relationship that I am bound to by law, (and heart).
  2. This requires commitment to true healing journey. It’s not a drop in space. The same sistas will be there each time for at least your set 6 weeks. So we can build on topics, unleash some truths and heal.
  3. I participate differently. I will focus 1000% on holding safe space, guiding the group and supporting your individual goals.
  4. The group takes ownership. It’s a collective process that grows overtime.
  5. ALL groups are facilitated by Shawna Murray-Browne, LCSW-C.
